    1: 31CrMoV9 steel introduction

        31CrMoV9 is the German DIN executive standard steel grade, which belongs to nitriding alloy structural steel this steel has high strength, good mechanical properties and intergranular corrosion resistance. It is generally used in quenched and tempered state or after high temperature tempering. After its surface is nitrided, its hardness can reach 1000 HV, it has excellent abrasion resistance and good anti-bite and anti-scratch ability.

    Application  31CrMoV9 is suitable for medium and large section components requiring high tensile strength and good toughness, and generally does not bear heavy loads. Commonly used in the manufacture of gear and engine construction components, such as hydraulic pistons, hydraulic piston rods, connecting shafts, connecting rods, knuckles, ring gear, screws and bolts, etc.

    6: Heat Treatment


        Heat to 650-720℃, cool slowly in the furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 248.


       Harden from a temperature of 870-930℃, followed by oil/polymer or water quenching.


       Tempering temperature: 580-700℃.


       Gas/plasma nitriding temperature (gas, salt bath): 570-580℃.
       Gas/plasma nitriding temperature (powder, plasma): 580℃.
       Surface hardness after nitriding: 800 HV.

    7: Delivery condition

        For hot forged  bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface.
        For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
        For hot forged block, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface/Black surface
        For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
        For cold drawn bar, usually the delivery condition is cold drawn, annealed/QT, peeled/black surface
